Movies about comics are cool!

I’m trying my hardest to not turn this blog into an actual blog and keep it solely for quotes, but I have a PSA that must be heard: GO SEE CAPTAIN AMERICA!

Even if you don’t like comic books/don’t read comic books/think comics are stupid/think that since you don’t read the Captain America comics you will not understand the film, there are NO EXCUSES and you should see it!

Somebody who knows zit-zero-nada about Captain America can see it just as if it’s a regular movie and not as a comic book movie; that’s the beauty of it. To comic nerds, it’s a movie about a regular guy from Brooklyn who is incredibly selfless and joins the Army to fight for his nation during WWII and ultimately becomes a known hero after a journey of dedication and national pride. To a non-comic nerd, it’s the absolute same.

Also, very rarely do I actually take the time (and money) to go out to see a movie. I can honestly say that if Jack Kirby (co-creator of the CA comics and a personal fav of mine) were still alive and with us, I believe he would be proud of the film’s production. Buuuut since Joe Simon (co-creator of CA comics) ain’t dead, I’m pretty sure he thinks it’s cool.

Sooo…

As you can see, I haven’t been on here much due to a medical issue a few months ago that required surgery, wasting money at Bdubbs (mainly just on 60-cent wing Thursdays), and just because I forgot about it over time. But I’m back! Updates may be delayed by a few days though due to watching Comic-Con (I would do immoral things to be there right now), Shark Week coming up (yes, just like every other person, I LOVE it), and because I have a Stephen King book I started reading then put it off for a while and I’d like to finish it (five down, 44 to go after this one!).

I’ve been going through a lot lately. I have a strong interest in joining the military (Air Force) and I’m still trying to figure out exactly what I want to do. Definitely something in law enforcement, maybe a cop, homicide detective, something like that. My intention when starting this blog thing was to do just baseball quotes so in the off-season I can focus on school. Turns out—surprise, surprise—I focus more on the NBA/NFL/NHL in the MLB off-season than I do compared to school, so I don’t even care anymore about doing solely baseball (I get distracted easily. I wear contacts instead of glasses because when I drive I used to constantly take them off and play with them. Same thing for when I’m in class). ANYWAY, I will try my absolute best to update this at least a few times a week. If you are so inclined, hit me up on twitter and tell me something funny (@stfujoebuck). I don’t post just quotes on there like I do on here, but following me would be a guaranteed life-changing event—for better and worse.

During the third inning of the Phllies/Marlins game on the MLB Network on June 4, 2010:

On the show “30 Clubs in 30 Days” on the MLB Network, the guys were picking favorites andmaking pre-season predictions, specifically for the San Diego Padres. They disected the NL West, in which one of the guys brought up:

“We’re not going to call it ‘last place’. We’re just gonna call it ‘finishing fifth’.”

“The National League West is probably the hardest of the divisions to predict a winner and loser.”

During second intermission, the Chicago Blackhawks were doing the shoot-out, but for the fans. A little boy named Billy, who plays hockey, was beside his mother when he was shooting. That’s when this was asked to his mother:

Reporter: “Did They (the hockey instructors) give you any advice (on hockey)?” “Don’t look at the puck, look at the net” -A hockey mom, stating you can score without knowing where the puck is.
